I love being an OT because I get to watch kids surprise themselves every day. Things that used to feel hard start getting easier, and seeing their confidence grow is the best part. I also love that we get to do it all through play and are always having so much fun! It is so rewarding to help not only the kids but their entire family!
Occupational therapy at our practice addresses the skills underneath a child's everyday activities: fine motor control, sensory processing, motor planning, visual perception, and the self-care tasks of dressing, eating, bathing and toileting. Sessions are active and play-based, because a child who is engaged produces far more repetitions of a difficult movement than a child being asked to comply.
Parents are partners in every service we provide. You are welcome in sessions, and you should expect to leave with something specific to continue at home rather than a general instruction to practice more.
