Lead Occupational Therapist

About Jessica

Jessica Daniels is an occupational therapist at Joy Therapy and Learning Center and leads the practice’s occupational therapy team. Jessica has worked with children since 2016, first as a nanny and daycare teacher and, since 2023, as an occupational therapist. She received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Georgia State University and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Brenau University. Her clinical experience includes autism spectrum disorders, neonatal abstinence syndrome, Down syndrome, and children in the foster system, and she is trained in DIR Floortime and sensory integration, with continuing education in trauma.

Jessica loves working at Joy because it is a truly collaborative clinic that serves the family as a whole. She has always loved working with kids and getting to play as part of her everyday routine, and her favorite part of pediatrics is watching children acquire skills they did not have before. Jessica is a licensed occupational therapist in the State of Georgia, registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, and CPR and First Aid certified. When she is not at the clinic, Jessica can be found curled up with a good book, painting, or spending time with her family and cat.

About occupational therapy at Joy Therapy

Occupational therapy at our practice addresses the skills underneath a child's everyday activities: fine motor control, sensory processing, motor planning, visual perception, and the self-care tasks of dressing, eating, bathing and toileting. Sessions are active and play-based, because a child who is engaged produces far more repetitions of a difficult movement than a child being asked to comply.

Parents are partners in every service we provide. You are welcome in sessions, and you should expect to leave with something specific to continue at home rather than a general instruction to practice more.
