About Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn Knapp is a speech-language pathologist at Joy Therapy and Learning Center. Kaitlyn has worked with children for over ten years. She received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Kutztown University and a Master of Education in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Georgia. She has the most experience working with children in early intervention, as well as children with feeding difficulties and dysphagia, speech sound disorders, and autism spectrum disorders. She especially enjoys early intervention and pediatric feeding because she loves helping children develop functional skills that support their independence and participation in everyday routines, and she enjoys working closely with caregivers, giving them strategies and education they can use at home.

What drew Kaitlyn to working with children is that no two days, and no two children, are ever the same. She loves building connections with each child, celebrating their individual progress, and being there for the little “aha” moments when they realize they can do something they could not do before. Kaitlyn is a licensed speech-language pathologist in the State of Georgia and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA. Her specialty training includes the SOS Approach to Feeding, Feed the Peds pediatric feeding therapy, FEES training through SA Swallowing Services, Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP) student training, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Parkinson’s Voice Project SPEAKOUT! certification, and BLS Healthcare Provider CPR certification from the American Heart Association. When she is not at the clinic, you can usually find Kaitlyn chasing around her son and spending time with her family. They love to travel, cheer on their favorite teams (Go Dawgs and Steelers!), and try new restaurants together. She is originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and has called Georgia home since 2017.

About speech therapy at Joy Therapy

Speech and language therapy at our practice addresses how a child understands language and how they express it, which are two different skills that can be affected independently. Our speech-language pathologists work on speech clarity, vocabulary and grammar, social communication, fluency, and augmentative communication, and several also hold additional training in oral motor and feeding therapy.

Parents are partners in every service we provide. You are welcome in sessions, and you should expect to leave with something specific to continue at home rather than a general instruction to practice more.
